What Started As Innocent Flirting Quickly Became Our Favorite Secret
It began with stolen glances across the office.
Nothing serious at first. Just playful teasing during meetings, late-night messages that lasted longer than they should, and smiles that carried meanings nobody else noticed. Ava always acted calm around everyone else, but with me, her eyes held something warmer… something dangerous.
“Careful,” she whispered one evening while handing me a coffee. “People might start talking.”
I smirked. “Maybe they already are.”
She laughed softly, then walked away like nothing happened.
That was the problem with Ava. She knew exactly how to leave someone thinking about her.
Weeks passed, and our flirting turned into a secret routine. We’d sit a little too close during lunch breaks. Exchange private jokes in crowded rooms. Send risky texts after midnight when the world was quiet.
But the real change happened during the company party.
Music echoed through the rooftop lounge while rain drizzled softly over the city lights. Ava stood beside the balcony wearing a black dress that made it impossible for me to think straight.
“You’ve been staring all night,” she teased.
“Can you blame me?”
Her lips curved into a slow smile. “Maybe not.”
For a moment, neither of us looked away.
The tension between us had been building for months, and suddenly it felt impossible to hide. She stepped closer, close enough for me to feel her heartbeat matching mine.
“This is a bad idea,” I murmured.
“I know,” she whispered back. “That’s what makes it exciting.”
From that night on, everything changed.
To everyone else, we were still just coworkers exchanging harmless jokes. But behind closed doors, hidden smiles and secret late-night conversations became our favorite addiction — a connection neither of us wanted to escape.
