Behind My Smile Lives A Completely Broken Soul
Sophia was the kind of girl everyone admired. She always walked into the room with a soft smile, kind eyes, and a calm voice that made people feel safe. Friends called her strong. Strangers called her beautiful. But no one ever asked what was hiding behind that smile.
Because behind it lived a completely broken soul.
A year ago, Sophia had fallen deeply in love with a man named Ryan. He wasn’t perfect, but to her, he felt like home. He knew her favorite songs, remembered the little things, and once told her, “I’ll stay even when life gets hard.”
She believed him.
Sophia gave him everything — her trust, her loyalty, her heart. She stayed during his darkest moments, loved him when he felt impossible to love, and defended him even when others warned her not to.
But love can become painful when only one person is fighting for it.
Slowly, Ryan changed. His messages became cold. His attention disappeared. The man who once couldn’t sleep without hearing her voice now ignored her for days. Sophia kept blaming herself, wondering what she did wrong.
Then came the night that destroyed her completely.
She saw Ryan with another woman.
Laughing. Holding hands. Smiling the same way he once smiled at her.
Her heart shattered silently.
Still, the next morning, Sophia went to work wearing makeup to hide her swollen eyes. She smiled at customers, laughed with coworkers, and answered, “I’m doing great,” while her soul felt empty inside.
Every night, she cried alone in her room, replaying memories that no longer meant anything to him.
But pain changes people.
One evening, Sophia looked at herself in the mirror and realized she was tired of pretending. Tired of loving someone who no longer cared. Tired of hiding her sadness behind fake happiness.
So she wiped her tears and made a promise to herself.
“I may be broken today,” she whispered, “but I won’t stay broken forever.”
And for the first time in a long time, the girl behind the smile finally started choosing herself.
