The music in the background faded into nothing as soon as she felt him step closer. It wasn’t loud, not obvious—but the space between them disappeared in a way that made her pulse race instantly.
“You’re doing that again,” he said softly.
“Doing what?” she asked, though she already knew.
“Looking at me like you’re about to lose control.”
Her breath hitched, and she looked away—but not for long. Something about tonight felt different. Stronger. Dangerous in the most irresistible way.
“Maybe I already have,” she admitted.
That was all it took.
His hand gently brushed against her arm, sliding up slowly until it rested at her waist. The touch wasn’t rushed, but it sent a wave of warmth through her body. She turned back toward him, and suddenly they were inches apart.
Too close.
Her eyes dropped to his lips—and stayed there.
“Say something,” he whispered.
But she couldn’t.
Not when her thoughts were gone, replaced by a single overwhelming feeling. She leaned in first this time, closing the distance before she could second-guess herself.
Their lips met—soft at first, then deeper, more certain.
The kiss pulled her in completely, making everything else disappear. Her fingers tightened against him as if she needed to hold onto something real, something grounding, while everything inside her felt like it was spinning.
It wasn’t just a kiss.
It was tension, longing, and something unspoken finally breaking free.
When they finally paused, just barely apart, her breath was uneven, her voice softer than before.
“You were right,” she whispered.
“About what?”
She looked at him, a faint smile forming.
“I really did lose control tonight.”
